This makes him 91 at the end of the franchise and the oldest living character from the original series. Finally, Zuko is last seen accompanying Izumi to the coronation of Prince Wu three years later. He first appears in the third season one year later, where it's clear that old age has yet to affect his fighting capabilities. Since Aang's journey to becoming a fully fledged Avatar concludes about a year later, Zuko would have been around 17 at the end of the 100 Year War, when he is the new Firelord and when the follow up comics take place. Even the son of the cabbage merchant-whose crops Aang accidentally ruined, repeatedly-makes an appearance in The Legend of Korra.In The Last Airbender, fans meet the young prince when he is around 16 years old, having been scarred by his father and banished from the Fire Nation at 13. While a handful of Avatar: The Last Airbender characters show up in The Legend of Korra, the two series has countless connections, including many characters who are the children and grandchildren of Avatar regulars. Wan Shi Tong's library is also the location of another cameo-this one a little morbid-when the owl spirit points out the decaying skeleton of Professor Zei, who stayed behind after Team Avatar's visit to the library. But the spirit returns in The Legend of Korra, this time to aid Aang's granddaughter, Jinora, in her search for portals into the Spirit World. It doesn't go well, since Wan Shi Tong objects to using knowledge in the pursuit of violence. In Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang and his friends visit Wan Shi Tong's library looking for a way to defeat the Fire Nation. Wan Shi TongĪppearing in the form of a giant owl, Wan Shi Tong is an ancient spirit who watches over an immense Spirit World library that can sometimes be accessed through the mundane world. Driven mad, he is still wandering there, decades later. One of the more obscure returning characters in The Legend of Korra, Zhao was a former nemesis of Zuko's, who killed the Moon spirit in his mortal life, damning him to wander in the Fog of Lost Souls after. Those six are the main returning characters, but there are a handful of additional cameo appearances from Avatar in The Legend of Korra. Iroh also becomes the namesake for Lord Zuko's grandson.
He reappears as a Spirit World guide several times over the course of the series. Decades after the events of Avatar, Iroh left behind his mortal body and entered the Spirit World, where he opened a tea shop. Though he's already old in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Zuko's mentor and former Fire Nation general Iroh makes a surprising appearance in The Legend of Korra.
